about

N-48016382 awakens in an isolation cube with an officer watching over him. The officer informs him that a judge has been called. The judge tells N-48016382 that on top of their previous conviction of flesh murder they are now being charged with bio-hacking. The judge decrees that death by incineration is the final judgement. N-48016382 claims that their memories framed them. They committed no murder; but then who did? Unfortunately the only solace we get is that N-48016382's life helped to train the artificial intelligence used during replicant generation - so perhaps the next generation of replicants can do something.

Sadly I never intended to let N-48016382 live, it just wouldn't work with the class structure of the world. But it does leave so many questions - how were they framed? What did N-48016382 know that couldn't be properly analyzed? The judge is harsh and monotone while the looming death is both melancholy and shallow.

How do you go about making a "song" for the judgement of a sentient creature? Especially if that judgement is a cruel death. The song starts with a heavy detuned synth and downward arp to try and establish a sense of dread. As the judge finishes reading their judgement we get a bassline to try and redeem the protagonist. Sadly its too late and the beat is harsh and crisp foreshadowing the impeding doom. As N-48016382 comes to terms with the end we're met with the same synth and arp from before but now its there to establish a sense of understanding and acceptance of the events.

lyrics

Cyborg Officer: We forced you into stasis. I've summoned a judge to get this over with quickly.
N-48016382: You don't understand! I need to speak with the Council of Collective Thoughts!
Judge: Replicant N-48016382, you were convicted of flesh murder, three hours ago.
Judge: Your current Iso-Cube confinement is for bio-hacking an elected official and carries a sentence of death.
Judge: Combined with your prior conviction, you will now receive death by incineration.
N-48016382: I didn't kill her!
N-48016382: I was framed.
Judge: Your memories were downloaded and have been sent to the Council of Collective Thoughts.
Judge: Please prepare for immediate incineration.
N-48016382: I didn't kill her, please... please.
Judge: Your life has assisted in determining flaws with the replicant neuro processing algorithm.
