Halls of the Machine Collective

about

N-48016382 re-enters the assembly hall, bio-hack imbedded. Making their way towards the Council of Collective Thoughts they're soon caught off guard by a clerk. The clerk realizes that this isn't the representative and punches the alarm releasing a trio of cyborg officers to hunt N-48016382 through the complex.

As we move through the story we see that N-48016382 is only thinking one step ahead and that narrow focus gets them in more trouble. I originally started this track knowing I'd want to have a "chase scene" at some point. When I recorded and vocoded the vocals for the Cyborg Officer saying "Come on out replicant scum!" I built the rest of the track around that narrative of fear.

The track starts with a rather mundane but eerie set of bells and voices. As N-48016382 moves through the halls we hear him passing various voices from adjacent rooms. The clerk sounds the alarm and we move briskly into a 4 on-the-floor style kick and heavy pulsating bassline. Breaking a little after the middle of the song we get our first taste of what police enforcement sounds like and it certainly doesn't sound friendly. The heavy breathing leads back into "chase scene" kick/bass combo with an added saw synth to really push that fear narrative. In the end our replicant finds themselves at the mercy of our enforcement officers.
