Almighty Dollar

about

This track is wild - seriously, I wrote the bass and main lift and just kept it on repeat for nearly a day in awe of how it worked so well. The lyrics showed up pretty quickly - I was trying to channel an evangelical preacher of a cult who worships literal paper money; combined with that angry kid meme "why everything gotta cost money" (and maybe a little bit of the mad scientist from Aqua Teen Hunger Force). I generally don't like to make political or super topical lyrics so don't paint me as an avant-garde electro-communist, I was just trying to have fun here. I do hate dollars though, just in general (maybe even the dollar general).

The initial chiptune style pad is from a Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V. The bass synth is from ReFX Vanguard 3 which is seriously my go-to for acid like stuff. The carrier bells are from the Roland D-50 which add a very light-hearted treble to a rather energetic and angry track. All the other stabs / synths come from Vanguard 3 with the lift synth coming from a blend of Vanguard 3 and PPG Wave 3.V.

I honestly think the bells make it sound like a hardcore track that fell into a vat of early 2000's acid and tried to walk it off.

lyrics

And so I present to you, an object of utmost desire
An object that defines a lineage
An object that binds ones aspirations
An object that shackles ones ambitions
An object that controls ones autonomy
An object that subjugates ones motivation
An object that can free oneself from tyranny
For I stand before you and speak none other!
Than the almighty dollar!

And so I present to you, an object of utmost desire
An object that controls ones autonomy
An object that determines ones fate
An object that depicts ones morality
An object that expounds ones purpose
An object that elevates ones privilege
An object that interprets ones status
For I stand before you to speak none other!
Than the almighty dollar!

For I stand before you and speak none other!
Than the almighty dollar!
